Why You Need Email Marketing

If you’re of the belief that email, like snail mail, is dead, you might want to rethink. Here are just a few reasons you need email marketing:

Email is Alive

According to the latest data, email is very much alive, and is actually the preferred method of receiving information for 77% of consumers!

Email Marketing Has High ROI

With the average return on investment (ROI) per $1 spent on email marketing being about $44, it might be time you started looking into some nifty email marketing software.

Free Email Marketing Software

Just in case you weren’t quite convinced, we thought we should let you know that there is such a thing as free email marketing software. So long as you don’t mind the email marketing company branding, these are perfect for businesses that are just starting to grow their email lists.

You won’t need to pay for services until your list has grown fairly large, and, by this time, it will probably be time for an upgrade anyway.

Our two cents: Our favorites are MailChimp and Constant Contact.

A Must for Marketers

In the U.S., 73% of marketers considered email marketing a vital component to their overall marketing strategy.

According to marketers, email marketing is here to stay. 67% believe it will increase in importance, or, at the very least, will remain at its current level of importance.

Our two cents: We have noticed a significant increase in clicks, website visits, and call-to-action requests for our clients who employ a consistent email marketing strategy.

Important Note:

While email marketing may seem like an easy, do-it-yourself task, it’s important to  note that like with all types of marketing, great care must be taken in planning and executing a successful email marketing strategy.

The smallest details such as: when to to send an email to best reach your particular audience, design and layout, subject line, to how frequently to send emails, will all determine whether or not your email is opened, your links are clicked, and more importantly, whether you keep the subscriber.

Remember that each email holds the potential to either retain or lose a subscriber, so make sure your strategy is well crafted and executed.

Email marketing is certainly not the simplest of tasks, and if it’s in the budget, we highly recommend getting yourself a professional for the job.

The Best Website Designs Have These Five Things

The best website designs have these 5 things going for them:

We all know that there are actually several things a great website design should have. Here, we discuss some of the most important.

They are Mobile Friendly

Thanks to recent studies we now know that in large part, emailing, social networking, and web browsing is being done on smart phones and tablets. So, if you intend for your website to survive amongst the ever-increasing clutter, then it too had better be mobile device friendly.

A mobile device friendly site does not just mean that the website will open on a mobile device.

A truly mobile-friendly website will not only reorient and resize itself when opened on a smaller screen, but the text and images should automatically resize for optimal viewing.

Also, the menu should become a scroll down or something similar for quick and easy navigation.

Produce Quality Content

In order to keep a visitor interested, and of course, to remain high in those search rankings, your site should be full of great content.

Great content tells your visitor all they need to know without asking for too much of their time. You should answer any questions they may have about your service or product, without them having to ask, or search for the answer, but remember that  any page, article, or post, should contain at least 300 words.

Keep It Clean and Simple

This one is pretty self explanatory. Every good website design should have a balanced amount of good quality content and complementing images.

To avoid overwhelming your visitors, avoid using too much text, as discussed in the Create Quality Content section. At the same time, a large cluster of images within a small space can be overwhelming. A good balance of both is key.

Make sure spacing between images and text is even and well spread out. Be sure to use a font that is easily read, and make the text size large enough to be read by all.

Have Good Images

Along with good content, should come good images.

As increasing importance is placed on screens via memes, infographics, viral videos, etc., the value placed on visual stimulation is ever-increasing. Images help to break up the monotony by using good graphics, or images as a complement, or even as a way to illustrate the message you are trying to convey.

Use professional-grade photos, or buy them from an inexpensive stock photography site like iStock. The last thing you want to do is scare a potential customer away from your great product or service with poor, outdated, images.

Have a Clear Call to Action

Put simply: If you are selling a product or service on your website, make sure that it doesn’t require searching to find out where or how to make the purchase.

Buttons, or links, to payment pages or inquiry forms are good ways to avoid losing an interested customer.

UCI Diabetes Center Fundraising Cocktail Party

UCI Diabetes Center Fundraising Cocktail Party

Last night, October 9, 2014, was the UC Irvine Health Diabetes Center’s annual fundraising cocktail party. The Art of the Cure was the theme of this year’s event  held at the Orange County Museum of Art in Newport Beach, CA. It was  yet another success for the center’s record books, boasting over 200 guests all in support of one cause–curing diabetes.

This short, but sweet, party is always enjoyable as guests are treated to wine and brews, alongside the incomparable tastings of gourmet caterer Thank Goodness It’s Sofia, all set to the backdrop of soothing jazz melodies provided by a live band. There was also the added enjoyment of trying your luck at the prize wheel, where you could win anything from Pilates classes, to ballroom dance lessons. This year featured a new winning opportunity with the wine wall, and always present, the crowd-pleasing, silent auction. The auction, this year, offered week-long getaways to locales such as Hawaii, Mammoth, as well as signed memorabilia from superstar athletes like San Diego Charger’s quarterback, Philip Rivers, and tennis superstar, Maria Sharapova.

UCI Diabetes Center’s is one of our favorite events of the year, one we always look forward to, and one in which we are never disappointed. This year’s party was no different! We are so honored to contribute and to be a part of such an amazing cause. We cannot wait to see what’s in store for next year!

Netflix Logo Update

The Netflix Logo Change

It is natural for a company to update its logo once in a while. You’re nothing if not relevant and current. In fact, we at Creative Gyeenius continually encourage our current, and new, clients to make updates to their logos. You may have noticed over the years that many large companies have made their own updates. However, it is important to note that they haven’t necessarily undergone major logo makeovers. Update is the keyword here. For branding purposes, it has always been argued that once a company has chosen a logo, and has made a name for itself with said logo, that symbol should not change. For example, such mainstream brands like Apple and AT&T have very recognizable logos.

Without the title of the company anywhere near the symbol, you know what companies they are representing. For either of those companies to make changes to their logos that would require a new familiarity and association be made by the consumer would be somewhat of a huge branding faux pas. You might be familiar with the updates both Apple and AT&T have made to their logos, or perhaps you’re not. That’s because either you noticed the subtle addition of texture, or the 3D effect, or you didn’t. Either way, you weren’t confused. Typically, the idea is to update the logo just enough to have a modern look and feel, but  not enough to confuse the consumer.

All of that said, we are curious to know what your thoughts are on the Netflix logo update. Was it time for an update? Are the changes for the better?

UCI Diabetes Fundraising Event – 2013

The UC Irvine Diabetes Center held its annual fundraising cocktail party in October. We were so honored to be given the opportunity to design all of the materials for this always spectacular event.

Roar for the Cure was the theme of this year’s event held at the famous Lyon Air Museum in Costa Mesa, CA. The expansive venue was packed full of Orange County’s who’s who, come together on one night in an effort to fight the disease that affects one out of every 11 people. Set to the beautiful jazz stylings of the UCI Jazz Quartet, party-goers hobknobbed amongst the backdrop of World War II era warplanes and military vehicles, enjoyed gourmet catered hors d’oeuvres by TGIS, perused the bevy of silent auction items, and took a chance at prize the wheel. This much-anticipated event ultimately raised over $548,000 that will aid in UCI Diabetes Center’s fight to find the cure.
